Description
A rare and unusual antique wooden box. With a silhouette picture inset into the lid. The picture is an ice skating scene with a windmill in the backdrop. There is a signature at the top which reads A. L. W. Freund Belian Besch.
From my research this dates from the late 1800’s, there is an example of this Silhouettists work in the National Trust collections
The box is in fair condition, but does have wear and marks, there seems to be some kind of fibres trapped between the picture and the glass – please refer to the photos.
Approximate Measurements: 4 ½” high, 12″ wide and 9″ deep.
